Julie Newman, LMHC

Julie Newman is a New York state Licensed Mental Health Counselor and associate psychotherapist with Liben Psychotherapy.  Julie has over four years experience treating mood, anxiety, behavioral, trauma and adjustment disorders in public school, outpatient, and private settings.

Julie's therapeutic style is cognitive behavioral and person-centered oriented. She empowers her clients to manage their symptoms and assists in helping them gain insight on which factors could be positively or negatively affecting their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Julie and her clients explore areas that have been supported to promote wellbeing such as the presence of positive emotions, community engagement, interpersonal relationships, sense of meaning/purpose, and accomplishments. Together, she and her clients assess and discuss how they can create space for these factors in their lives. Focusing on achieving and maintaining wellness allows Julie to provide her clients with preventative care and improve their autonomy and health outside of session.

Julie earned her Master of Science degree in clinical psychology from Loyola University Maryland with honors. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of New Jersey. In addition to Liben Psychotherapy, Julie is also employed at a private practice in midtown Manhattan where she treats adults in individual, couples, and group formats.
